All throughout ancient Rome’s history, the Roman state was represented by two things: the senate and the assembly. The senate was a group of wealthy landowners who had once been military leaders. They advised the assembly, which was made up of all the eligible Roman citizens. decisions were made by vote. This allowed for a large degree of equality among the citizens, as each person’s vote had the same weight. Ancient Rome was also notable for its system of law, which was based on the Twelve Tables. This system was created in order to prevent abuse of power by the wealthy. Finally, ancient Rome was known for its military prowess. The Roman army was one of the most effective and feared armies in the world.<\/p>\n
