Ancient Rome lasted for over two and a half thousand years and was, for much of that time, the most powerful nation on earth. In all, there were over 160 emperors of Rome.

There were a total of 96 emperors of ancient Rome.

How many total Roman emperors were there?

The Roman Empire was ruled by 77 emperors between 27 BC and AD 476 (503 years); 18 (23,4%) of them held sway during the Early Empire (27 BC–AD 193, 220 years), and 59 (76,6%) during the Late Empire (193-476, 283 years). Of those 77 emperors, 18 (23,4%) were deposed, 16 (20,8%) were assassinated, 11 (14,3%) died in battle, 1 (1,3%) committed suicide, and 1 (1,3%) died of natural causes. The cause of death was unknown for the remaining 19 (24,7%) emperors.

The seven kings of Rome are Romulus, Numa Pompilius, Tullus Hostilius, Ancus Marcius, Tarquinius Priscus, Servius Tullius, and Tarquinius Superbus. If we include Titus Tatius, there are eight.
