Our modern world has been influenced in many ways by the powerful ancient civilization of Rome. From the architecture we see around us to the ways we govern our societies, the Romans have left their mark on our culture. In this essay, we will explore some of the ways in which ancient Rome has influenced our culture today.<\/p>\n

There are many ways in which ancient Rome has influenced our culture today. One of the most obvious ways is in the popularity of the Roman Empire as a setting for movies, television shows, and video games. This interest in all things Roman has led to a resurgence in the study of Latin and Ancient history. Additionally, many of the architectural features that we take for granted – such as the arch, concrete, and public baths – were first developed during the Roman Empire. Even our calendar is based on the one used in Rome!<\/p>\n

How did Ancient Rome impact the modern world? <\/h2>\n

The Romans were the main force in spreading many aspects of what is known Today as the “Western Culture” This includes: Western values, government and law concepts (see further below) Civil engineering and infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The Constitution of the United States was heavily influenced by the Roman Republic. Many of the features of our Constitution, including the system of checks and balances, the bicameral legislature, term limits, and age requirements, were inspired by Rome. In some cases, the Founders even copied terms straight from the Roman constitution, such as senate, capitol, and committee.<\/p>\n
