The city of Rome was founded in 753BC and grew to become one of the largest and most powerful empires in history. The Roman way of life was very different from our own, and their methods of achieving success were often brutal. Here are some interesting facts about how people lived in ancient Rome.<\/p>\n

The ancient Romans were a particularly ingenious people. They developed many technologies and systems that we still use today, like aqueducts and roads. They also had a complex social hierarchy with different levels of citizenship. Ancient Romans were mainly polytheistic, believing in many gods and goddesses, although some people did convert to Christianity.<\/p>\n

What was the way of life in ancient Rome? <\/h2>\n

The Roman elite enjoyed a life of luxury, with expensive furnishings and plenty of servants and slaves to cater to their every need. They would often hold lavish dinner parties, serving their guests exotic dishes from around the world. For poorer Romans, such a life was only a dream.<\/p>\n

A typical day for a Roman would start with a light breakfast and then off to work. Work would end in the early afternoon when many Romans would take a quick trip to the baths to bathe and socialize. At around 3pm they would have dinner which was as much of a social event as a meal.<\/p>\n
