The ancient Romans did not have much spare time. Most of their time was spent working. However, when they did have spare time, they would spend it with their families or relaxing.

In their spare time, ancient Romans often engaged in leisure activities such as playing games, chatting with friends, going to the theatre, and attending banquets.

How did the ancient Romans keep time?

The three main types of timepieces used in ancient Roman times were the sundial, klepsydra, and obelisk. The sundial and obelisk depended on the sun, but time still had an impact on the Roman people on cloudy days and at night. The klepsydra was a water clock that was used to measure time at night or on cloudy days.

A typical day for a Roman would start with a light breakfast and then head off to work. Work would end in the early afternoon, and many Romans would take a quick trip to the baths to bathe and socialize. Around 3pm, they would have dinner, which was as much of a social event as a meal.
