The ancient Romans are best known for their grandiose architecture and for their many great leaders and conquerors. But what was everyday life like for the average Roman citizen? What did they eat? How did they spend their free time? Here is a look at what life was like for the ancient Romans.<\/p>\n

The ancient Romans lived in a time before modern conveniences like electricity and running water. They relied on slaves to provide these things for them. Most Romans lived in simple homes with a few rooms and a garden. The wealthy had larger homes with luxurious items like marble floors and gardens with fountains.<\/p>\n

What was the lifestyle of ancient Romans? <\/h2>\n

The Roman elite enjoyed a life of luxury, with expensive furnishings and plenty of servants and slaves to cater to their every need. They would hold lavish dinner parties, serving their guests exotic dishes from around the world. poorer Romans could only dream of such a life.<\/p>\n

A typical Roman day would start with a light breakfast and then off to work. Work would end in the early afternoon when many Romans would take a quick trip to the baths to bathe and socialize. At around 3pm they would have dinner which was as much of a social event as a meal.<\/p>\n
